2020 Video: Artist Insights (Brilliant Butterflies)
Bring a little Spring to your tree this year with Keepsake Artist Edythe Kegrize’s Brilliant Butterflies Ornament.
Edythe was asked where she draws inspiration from for her beautiful designs and she said, “I look forward to the butterflies of summer! As the flowers in my garden are starting to emerge, I have been looking at plant catalogues and making plans to add more plants that attract butterflies and birds. I find working in my garden very calming and a good physical workout as well. The color combinations and forms of plants and flowers often influence my work. I am sure I will be working some of my favorite colors into my next nature inspired butterfly design.”
2020 Companion Ornaments: Better Together
When the Keepsake Studio brainstorms new ideas for ornaments, the same thought is always shared: “How great would it be to tell the story between two characters?” From this thinking, the studio creates limited-quantity companion ornaments.
Snowball and Tuxedo, 20th Anniversary – The little polar bear and penguin have spent twenty years discovering a whole series of heartwarming adventures. Celebrate this milestone with these two pieces that jointly mark the 1st shared celebration and the 20 Anniversary.
Lady Black-Throated Blue Warbler – Keepsake Artist Edythe Kegrize always tries to keep in mind the coloring of the female bird that corresponds to the male in her Beauty of Birds series. And this year, the mate to the male Black-Throated Blue Warbler is a beautiful shade of green, blue and yellow.
Taming the Beast – There’s something sweet when Belle and the Beast finally begin to acknowledge their feelings for each other. You can relive this beloved scene with these two classic characters on your tree.

A Dream House
Keepsake Artist Don Palmiter brings an early 1900s aesthetic to Nostalgic Houses & Shops #37.
Don starts out just as a builder would when creating the dimensions and detail of this long-running series.
“After creating a blueprint, I build the basic frame of the houses and buildings with wood–all the doors, windows and most of the trim are also wood.”
From there, it only gets more detailed. He covers the wood frame in wax so he can sculpt out all the fine details of the house or building to make them feel as realistic as possible.
“Then I build all the furnishings with the same wood and wax,” Don explains. “Once the prototype is finished, I break it into several parts for molding.”
“I always try to make the furnishings feel as though they tell a story of what might be going on for those people who live, work or shop in all the different businesses and houses.”

Ornament Spotlight: Once Upon a Christmas
Time to Rest
Santa’s long Christmas ride comes to an end with this year’s Once Upon a Christmas #10.
“Some fans have said, ‘You can’t end it; it’s my favorite series!’ But when the story’s reached its conclusion, what else can you do?” says Keepsake Artist Tom Best.
Together with Robert Chad and Jim Kemme, now retired, this trio has been recreating Santa’s Christmas process for the past decade. This year’s ornament features Santa sitting in his easy chair, finally able to take a break after a busy night of gift-giving.
In addition to the final ornament in the series, this year also includes a companion piece for fans. With another successful Christmas in the books, Santa dances into the new year with Mrs. Claus, his pocket watch lighting up as midnight strikes.
Connect these ornaments to your Magic Cord, along with the other ornaments in the series, to enjoy the entire tale of Santa’s Christmas adventure displayed on your tree.
