The Three Kings

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, there appeared
in the sky a star so bright, it could be seen
even in the daytime. Many noticed it and marveled,
but not everyone understood what it meant.

To three wise rulers in the faraway kingdoms
of Tarsus, Chaldea, and Arabia, however,
the star’s message was clear:
The prophesied King of the Jews had finally arrived.
Quickly making preparations for the long journey,
each monarch set out to pay his respects to the new King.
Somewhere along the way, their paths converged,
and three caravans became one.

When the star finally led them to the house where
Jesus was, these powerful, learned men
humbled themselves and worshiped the Christ Child,
presenting him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Were they surprised to discover
they all shared the same purpose?
Or did they sense that they were chosen
to welcome God’s Son, not because
of their riches or wisdom,
but because of their open hearts?
