The Angel’s Song

As the angels descended from Heaven
on a pathway of starlight,
all the sleeping people in the city of Bethlehem
were awakened by their song.
For these angels were the messengers of God,
sent to proclaim the glad tidings.
In their midst, there was an angel whose countenance
was shining with the light of Heaven.
She carried a golden harp with silver strings.
With just one touch,
the harp could pour forth music never before heard
except in the Halls of Paradise,
music that could gladden the heart and stir the soul.
When the herald angels sang “Glory to the newborn King,”
the music of the harp mingled with their words
and sent the miraculous news far from the little town.
Even when the words grew faint,
the powerfully beautiful music of the harp flowed on,
over mountains and through valleys,
so that all should know
that this truly was the most glorious morning
the world had ever known.
