THE LEGEND OF THE CANDY CANE In England, in the 1700s,
all across the land,
religious symbols like the cross
were gathered up and banned.
A Christmas candymaker
was determined he would find
a way for faithful Christians
to exchange their holy sign.
He took some plain white candy
and shaped it like a shepherd’s staff
representing God, our Shepherd,
and His care on our behalf.
He chose the white to represent
the Christ Child’s purity,
then wrapped three stripes around it
for the Holy Trinity.
And to this day, the candy cane
remains a special way
to honor and to celebrate
the Christmas holiday.

Description
With a removable, brass ornament featuring a candy cane with an attached cord.
