This commemorative ornament, 43rd in a series, began as one of the tallest Christmas trees in the nation. The 100-foot Douglas fir was a gift to Kansas City from Cascade Timber Consulting, Inc. in Oregon. The tree traveled more than 1,500 miles through six states to Kansas City, where it became the 2022 Mayor’s Christmas Tree. Each year, the tree stands in Crown Center Square to represent the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, a citywide charity that makes the season merrier for our less fortunate. After the holidays, the tree is cut into lumber and made into ornaments designed by Hallmark artists. This limited -edition ornament, designed by Hallmark Artist Ramon Olivera, is the latest in the collectible series of Mayor’s Christmas Tree ornaments. The variation in the wood grain makes each ornament a one-of-a-kind treasure.
