Those Past Decembers How warmly I remember Outside, the winter air was chill And in the silence of the night Nanette Rolaff
Those treasured past Decembers
so filled with special memories
of carefree, childhood joysā
Of helping Mom with baking
And decoration making
and sending notes to Santa
filled with lists of dreamed-of toys.
As laughing, we’d race down the hill,
our trusty old toboggans
gliding o’er the glistening snow.
And inside, all was cozy
As we’d run in, cheeks all rosy,
to be warmed beside the fireā
I loved those past Decembers so.
When through the house, the only light
came twinkling, like bright jewels,
from our beloved Christmas tree,
I’d watch the tinsel shimmer
As the ornaments would glimmer
with my own wide-eyed reflectionā
what a mage world to me.
