1951 Ford Fire Engine With powerful flathead V-8 engines and extra-heavy-duty construction, Ford’s 1951 “BIG JOB” F-Series trucks made excellent fire engines. This handsome F-7 model was the first engine purchased by the City of Leawood, Kansas, where it provided fire protection until 1961. Forty-four years later, after serving many other surrounding communities and surviving a major cab fire in 1974, the 500-gallon-per-minute pumper truck was repurchased in April 2005. Now lovingly restored and designated Engine 30, it once again resides in its original home at Fire Station #1. Robert Hurlburt
