Santa’s Bright Idea

Everyone has something that makes him or her stand out…but sometimes we are taught to hide those very qualities because we feel like “misfits.” In the 1964 TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph learns that “misfits” like himself can be heroes, indeed. When a terrible storm threatens the sleigh’s takeoff and Christmas itself, Rudolph’s glowing nose gives Santa a bright idea. “From what I see now, that will cut through the murkiest storm they can dish up. What I’m trying to say is, Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
