Inside your 2024 Dream Box Meet the mini merry-makers of the North Pole Village. The 2024 Dream Boxes don’t start shipping out to KOC members until April, but we’d like to give you a closer look at the ornaments you’ll find inside. Art Director Kurt Gaulke talks about these minis being a sneak peek of what’s to come-and only 2024 club members can get them. “When we were brainstorming what to create for the Dream Box, I was pushing on starting a series with a new village. We asked what would be happening if that village were in the North Pole, with the idea of having a Christmas town and elves as its inhabitants. And we wanted Christmas-related shops that would be visually cool. So, we asked Keepsake Artist Rob Stanphill to help us imagine what it could be.” Rob describes the next step of the process: “We started exploring with shapes to bring in things that reflect what happens in the shops. We asked, ‘If you were an elf with an ornament shop in the North Pole, what would you want your shop to look like?’ We thought they would probably want it to look like ornaments, so that’s where we started.” Kurt continues, “So, for each character, their home or shop will reflect what their job is. Ollie’s Ornament Shoppe features ornament-shaped structures. Rob thought through every detail- you see teardrop and ball shapes, and there are even little caps for the ornament tops. It’s kind of a storybook approach that gives us lots of possibilities for things to come. The Dream Box is where this series kicks off. What comes next will be in our big Keepsake Ornament line, but only our KOC members get in on the ground floor with these special ornaments.” Getting into the mindset of being a kid again has given Rob lots of inspiration. “It’s so much fun to work on these. I hope they bring joy to kids as they imagine being there, walking through the village and thinking about what the elves do and what they’re like. I’ve got lots of ideas for the future!” “Inside your 2024 Dream Box.” For Keeps 22 Winter 2023: 2
