OLD WORLD SANTA

Hallmark Artist Edythe Kegrize’s Old World Santa was inspired by the many Art Nouveau designs housed in the Hallmark Archives. Edythe was especially drawn to a painting of red flowers and green floral lattice set against black and white fields. The painting perfectly captured Art Nouveau’s idealized form and flow of nature, and Edythe applied many of the natural floral elements to Santa’s cloak to give a traditional Christmas icon a more worldly, sophisticated style.
