Tracy Larsen likes to focus on the funny. Whether he’s sculpting popular cartoon characters or a playful Santa Claus, Tracy tries to put a comical twist on everything. “Whatever I create, I try to work animation and humor into it.” he says. “I want it to be more than a static piece of art. I want it to be full of fun and energy, too.”

I came across the term “steampunk” years ago as a description for a certain look I have enjoyed since childhood. If Santa’s reindeer got sick in the 19th century and couldn’t fly, I imagined this hot air balloon, stem-powered ride for him. My favorite part is the boiler with the flickering orange flame and the mechanical feel of a days-gone-by era. The steam whistle adds a nice touch, too.
