On February 15, 1965, the red maple leaf flag was inaugurated as the National Flag of Canada. With the proclamation of Canada’s new flag, the maple leaf has become the most-prominent symbol of Canada.

“O Canada” was proclaimed Canada’s national anthem on July 1, 1980, 100 years after it was first sung on June 24, 1880.
