Ever since she was old enough to hold a crayon, Nina Aubé has loved to paint and draw. She once thought she would grow up to illustrate children’s books, but she always had a knack for sculpting, too, so she was a natural fit for the Keepsakes Studio. An animal lover who creates adorable 3D characters, Nina likes the forgiving nature of sculpting. “Even accidents can open up new possibilities,” she says.

Painting tip: Use a paper plate as a palette to dilute the paint with water and/or to mix colors together to make new colors (blue + yellow = green, red + yellow = orange, red + white = pink, mixed green + red = brown, white + black = gray).

After the painted pieces have dried, apply glitter. Pour a bit of school glue onto your palette, pour a bit of glitter into the glue. and mix together. The use a paintbrush to apply the glitter glue to the parts of the train you want to sparkle. The glue will dry clear, so you can even apply it to painted parts.
