Kris Gaughran

Kris Gaughran grew up watching her aspiring-artist mother enter paintings in 4H competitions, intricately decorate cookies, and never give up on her passion for creating. “She inspired me to do the same,” Kris explains. “From early on, I found so many ways to be creative. I would draw, doodle, and add illustrations to the stories I read. My mom’s unwavering example continues to fuel my artistic expression today.”

“Here we have the beautiful Storytellers ornament which is based on a statue. I have very fond memories both as a child and as an adult of going to the Disney parks and one of my favorite things as an adult is to see the gorgeous statues that are all over the parks and so this one is based off of one of those statues. I love the finish of this. It really feels like it’s a bronze statue and it’s got a gorgeous pantina that really pops all the different folds in Walt’s coat and his pants and it really highlights the little playfulness of Mickey standing on the top. One of the challenges that I had was how to recreate this trunk that Mickey is standing on and thankfully, Matt Johnson was there to step in and he recreated this absolutely beautiful trunk that Mickey is standing on. Hopefully, this brings a little bit of Disney into your home.”
