“Lucy’s Italian Movie”

In this 1956 episode, Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel tour Italy by train.  Lucy meets a flamboyant film director who offers her a juicy role in his film, Bitter Grapes.  To prepare for her part, Lucy heads into the vineyards of Turo.  She jumps “feet first” into her adventure, stomping grapes in a wooden vat.  Lucy is stained head to toe with grape juice, and she loses the movie role to Ethel.  Lucy is devastated, crying, “Can’t I be an American tourist who’s homesick for America and that’s why I’m blue?”
