This festive Santa celebrates Sweden’s charming folk art and Christmas traditions. The wood-carved Dala horse, a favorite holiday toy, is considered a symbol of Sweden. This miniature horse and Santa’s robe both feature the motifs and colors of the culture’s kurbits style folk painting. Swedish children believe that Santa Claus appears on Christmas Eve asking, “Are there any nice children here?” Deserving little ones receive gifts including “jhartkorgar,” or “love hearts,” woven treat baskets which are treasured mementos of the season.
