From an early age, Saint Nicholas was known for his generous gifts to the poor.  According to tradition, children would fill their boots with treats for his horse and place them near their doors, and he in turn would fill the boots with candy and gifts.  Today children in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands still place their boots the night before Saint Nicholas Day, December 6.  This handsome depiction was hand-sculpted by Don Palmiter in the Keepsake studio and finished with a celadon glaze.
