The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (1940)
In Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (1940), an overeager Mickey Mouse lands himself in a bit of hot water after practicing some of his master’s magic tricks. Brooms won’t stop multiplying, the tower keeps flooding, and Mickey has to figure out the right spell to clean up his messes before the Sorcerer Yen Sid wakes up. The sorcerer’s apprentice realizes that he might not be ready to command the universe just yet.

The Band Concert
Conductor Mickey has his hands full in the acclaimed 1935 Disney short The Band Concert. Baton in hand, Mickey leads his crew in the William Tell Overture. But the performance turns tricky as the band is interrupted by one force of nature after another, from a tenacious bee to a fierce tornado to a certain pesky concessions vendor–Donald Duck–who keeps piping up with his flute, changing the band’s tune to “Turkey in the Straw.” It’s all Mickey can do to keep his temper (and the tempo!). but amazingly, the show goes on!
