NERDY NUGGET: Gwen Stacy, a love interest of Peter Parker’s, died at the hands of archvillian the Green Goblin in issue 121 of The Amazing Spider-Man (June 1973). Fans mourned the character for decades until issue 2 of Edge of Spider-Verse comics (September 2014) depicted Gwen as being bitten by a radioactive spider in an alternate universe. She went on to use her new spider-like abilities to fight crime there as Spider-Woman.
