R2-Q2™ and R2-X2™

During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire as well as the Rebel Alliance utilized a variety of R2 series Astromech droids. Designed to work in and around space vessels as diagnostic and repair units, many developed headstrong and self-reliant personalities. Among notable R2 units were the gray and silver-bodied R2-Q2, assigned to the Imperial Star Destroyer Devastator when it captured Princess Leia aboard the Tantive IV, and the dark green R2-X2, which flew with X-wing starfighter pilot Red Ten during the Battle of Yavin and was destroyed above the surface of the Death Star.
