American designers gave their own spin in the Arts & Crafts Movement (1880-1910) imported from England.  The resulting Craftsman (or Prairie School) houses brought affordable style to middle-class America.  Sturdy furniture by designers like Stickley complemented the clean lines of the architecture.  Craftsman houses are still loved for their simplicity and warmth–a unique blend of antique charm and modern practicality.
