First seen in 1947, the legendary LIONEL® GG-1 is one of the most popular locomotives in the company’s history. It is patterned after the Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 Electric Locomotive developed in the 1930s to speed passenger trains through northeastern rail corridors. Pennsy Electrics earned a reputation for efficiency, toughness, and dependability for more than 50 years. The five-stripe Tuscan red paint scheme debuted in Lionel’s 1955 “Congressional” set.

This repainted version of the 3rd ornament in the LIONEL Trains series was issued in limited quantities and first available at the 2011 Keepsake Ornament Debut event.
