The Legend of
THE FAITHFUL SPANIELS

The innkeeper’s two frisky spaniels couldn’t sleep.
There was excitement in the air,
and they wanted to be a part of it!
They crept outside to the stable,
where their master had sent a weary couple.
Dazzled by the glow of a single bright star,
each cocked a long inquisitive ear
when they heard a baby’s cry.
Soon the voices of angels made it clear
that this was no ordinary baby,
but the newborn King!
The spaniels crept closer, wondering
what they could do for the holy child.
Feeling a gentle chill in the December air,
both of them quietly curled up
in the soft hay next to the sleeping Christ,
helping to keep Him warm.
When morning came, the Christ Child smiled
on the two faithful companions…
already aware of the many ways their
unconditional love
reflected His Heavenly Father.
