Their work, which is mainly created for individuals by special commission, is distinguished by a tremendously lifelike appearance achieved through extensive research of each bird’s form and habitat. This research is a pleasure for the Doolys who truly love and appreciate birds. At their home in Arkansas, their birds subjects seem to constantly seek them out. “It’s funny, but whenever we’ve decided to carve a particular bird.” Gary explains, “One always appears on our doorstep.”

In the Birds of North America, artists Gary and Gayle Dooly have captured the splendor of birds in highly realistic pieces that are individually hand-cast and painted. From a pair of cheerful robins to the unusual cedar waxwing, the Doolys have created a panorama of songbirds chosen from both the well-loved and less commonly seen varieties–all accurately portrayed with elements of their natural habitats. Cast from the Doolys’ original wood-carved masterpieces and crafted to their specifications, each limited-edition piece carries the Doolys’ wood-burned signature in it’s handsome wood-finished base. A pledge of authenticity is also provided at the time of purchase.

About the Artist

Since 1978 Gary and Gayle Dooly have devoted their lives to rendering the beauty of birds, and original wood carvings.
