Gingerbread Man
This ornament has been on quite a journey. It started as a 100-foot Douglas fir, a gift from the private forest of the Weyerhaeuser Company in Oregon. The tree traveled more than 1,500 miles through six states to Kansas City, where it stood at Crown Center as the Mayor’s Christmas Tree. Each year, the tree represents the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, a citywide charity that makes the season merrier for our less fortunate. After the holidays, the tree is cut into lumber and made into ornaments designed by Hallmark artists. This particular ornament holds a special place as the 25th in the series. The variation in the wood grain makes each ornament an absolutely unique treasure. And, through each ornament lives the spirit of holiday giving–all proceeds from the ornament sales benefit this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. Thank you for your contribution.
